What if I can’t pay for Pro right now?

Ask for more time at recordist.app/more-time. If you don’t subscribe, we give you Pro at no cost for one, three or six months, as you choose. If you subscribe, write to us and we’ll work it out with you. A person reads every request and answers within two business days. We don’t ask for proof or a reason, and nothing on your computer changes whatever we answer.

This is how we help with financial hardship: you ask, and nobody asks you to prove anything.

What happens next

1. You confirm your request from the email we send, within 24 hours.
2. A person reads it and writes back within two business days.
3. If you don’t subscribe, we send you a Pro key for the time you chose, to paste into Settings, then License. Nothing to pay, and nothing renews.
4. If you subscribe, a person writes back to work it out with you. Your subscription stays as it is meanwhile, and you can still cancel at any time.
5. When your time ends, Recordist moves to the Free plan by itself and deletes nothing. If things are still hard, ask again.

When we say yes

If you don’t subscribe, we say yes to every request that meets these: it’s for you, not for a team; and you don’t already have time from us that ends more than two weeks from now. If you already have time, ask again in the two weeks before it ends. A person decides, and they say yes whenever the request meets those two conditions. If you subscribe, a person writes back to work it out with you. Anyone on a team who finds paying hard can ask for their own time; for a whole team, write to support@recordist.app.

What we ask, and what we keep

An email address, one tick, and, if you like, how long would help and a note. Write in whatever language is easiest for you; our answer comes in plain English. We use your address to answer the request and for nothing else, and we delete it and anything you wrote once our answer has gone. The whole of it is in the Privacy Policy, section 3.1.

Whatever we answer, recording, transcription and search stay free with no time limit, and your recordings, transcripts and notes stay on your computer on any plan. How to cancel and How refunds work are unchanged by this.
