Why I think it's the right one for us:
- Nothing joins the call. There's no bot in the participant list, so clients see a normal meeting.
- By default it asks before it records, and it gives me the words to tell the others.
- The recording, transcript and notes stay on my computer. The company that makes Recordist never receives them.
- It works with the AI we already approve: the notes can be written on my computer with no AI service at all, or with our own approved Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible key.

Cost: recording, transcription and search are free. Pro, which writes up every call and drafts the follow-up email, is US$9 a month or US$90 a year for anyone who subscribes by 30 November 2026. Every install includes 7 days of Pro, so I can show you real notes before we spend anything.

It's a public beta until version 1.0, so I'd suggest a two-week pilot on internal meetings and on calls where everyone agrees to be recorded. I'll keep taking my usual notes alongside and tell you honestly whether it saves time.

- Nothing joins our calls. It records the computer's own microphone and sound, so there's no bot in the meeting.
- Audio, transcripts and notes stay in one folder on the computer. It sends no telemetry, and its built-in notes engine runs on the machine.
- No account and no sign-in. A licence key is the only thing tied to a purchase.
- It fits the AI we already approve. Notes are written by a built-in engine on the computer by default; if we prefer, they use our own approved Anthropic or OpenAI-compatible key, called straight from the computer with no Recordist server in between. Assistants that support MCP (Claude, Cursor and others) can search meetings through a connection that stays on the computer.
- The app keeps its own ledger of the network requests it makes, so you can check what leaves the machine.
- The Mac app is signed with the company's Developer ID and notarised by Apple.
- On Macs you manage, a configuration profile can keep notes on the local engine, block cloud AI keys, cap how long audio and meetings are kept, and more.
