You asked, we built

What changed, and what led to it.

Every change here starts from a request or a problem, and each one says which. From a user means a person asked for it on the idea board. From our own use means we found it by using Recordist ourselves.

Recordist 1.0.5

Release notes

  1. Better now
A recording starts the moment you choose Record, even while the speech model is still downloading or loading. The audio is kept on your laptop, and the transcript follows once the model is ready.
  2. Better now
A call whose transcript or notes stall after it ends is picked up again by itself. If a step is still waiting after two minutes, Recordist says what it is waiting for.
  3. Better now
Transcribe again, Try again and recovery after a crash keep who said what. Lines keep “You” and the other person's name, including names you typed, and echo hiding still works.
  4. Better now
Long calls get full notes. A part of a long call that does not condense is tried again, and if any stretch is still missing, the notes say which minutes they leave out.
  5. Better now
Updates wait until a call's transcript and notes are finished. Quit asks first while either is being written, and says which.
  6. Better now
Clear messages instead of silent failures. A recording that does not start by itself or from the shortcut sends a notification, a library that cannot open says what to do, a meeting or a search that fails to load says so with Try again, and a memory or notes engine problem comes as one plain sentence with the next step.
  7. Better now
On a Mac, the Recordist window can be dragged to a new place again.
  8. Better now
Delete all my data, and Remove everything and quit, wait for your answer, so Cancel stops them.
  9. Better now
On the record card, Enter records only from the title field or the card itself. On Not this one, Snooze or Stop asking about this one, Enter presses that button and never records.
  10. Better now
Every screen works from the keyboard, screen readers such as VoiceOver hear a recording start, pause, stop and finish, and text, buttons and fields are easy to read in both themes and every accent. Transcripts, notes and answers can be selected and copied again.
  11. Better now
Pro renews by itself. Once a renewal payment goes through, the new key arrives in Recordist with the update check, with nothing to paste. If a payment did not go through, Settings → License says so in one calm line, with Update your card.
  12. Better now
A press on the Stream Deck key or the extension's Record now always brings up the record card, even after Not this one or while detection is snoozed.

Recordist

Recordist for Mac is downloading.

Thank you for trying Recordist. Three small steps and it is ready before your next call. Open it now, so it is set up in time.

  1. 1Open the download and drag Recordist to Applications, then open it from there.
  2. 2Allow the microphone and system audio when your Mac asks, so both sides of the call are heard. Calendar is optional: it names your meetings and who is in them.
  3. 3Close the window when you like. Recordist waits in the menu bar and, when your next call starts, asks: Record this meeting? Nothing is recorded until you say yes.

The first time it opens, Recordist downloads its speech model: 142 MB in English, 466 MB for other languages. That usually takes a minute or two, and you can record once it finishes. The notes engine, 1 to 3 GB, follows in the background.

While it downloads, see a finished call in your browser

Every install includes 7 days of Pro, so your first calls are written up in full.

No call today? Import a recording you already have: in Recordist, Meetings, then Import audio. One of 10 minutes or more starts your 7 days of Pro, and the notes follow the transcript.

While it downloads, get your Free key. 10 AI notes a month instead of 3, with no end date. Optional: your download has already started.

Two emails: a link to confirm, then a copy of your key. Nothing else unless you ask. We never sell or share your address, and Resend, our email service, sends them for us. Privacy
