We don't store your data. We can't.

Your recordings, transcripts and notes exist only on your device. Recordist has no server that could hold them. The only thing we ever keep is the email on your receipt.

If you choose a cloud AI provider for notes, the transcript goes from your computer to that provider under your own account. That is your choice, off by default, and listed in the Privacy Ledger.

Fifteen seconds

It still works with the Wi-Fi off.

This is the short version of the launch film: the fake ad, the Wi-Fi switch, and the receipt that reads zero. It plays muted with captions; turn the sound on for the narration. We serve it from our own domain with no third-party player and no tracking.

Before you pay

What you're buying into.

Recordist is an independent product in its first public release, with the limits stated plainly. Transcripts and notes are generated by software and can be wrong; check them before you rely on them.

Current limits

  • Made for the Mac first.

Requires macOS 14.6 or later on Apple silicon. The Mac app is what we use every day. Windows and Linux versions are in early access. Early access means the build is produced from the same code as the Mac app and compiles in our test pipeline, but we have not yet verified a full recording on that hardware ourselves. It may fail to record, or capture only one side of a call. Please tell us what happens.

  • Local notes take a few minutes on an 8 GB Mac.

With the built-in engine's default model, a 40-minute meeting takes about five minutes to summarise on an 8 GB Apple-silicon Mac; the larger model you can pick takes about 12. 16 GB machines are roughly three times faster. With your own cloud key, notes arrive in about 20 seconds. Transcription is fast either way, and the app shows the estimate before it starts.

  • Early builds are not yet notarised by Apple.

Until Apple notarisation lands, macOS will warn on first launch. Right-click the app, choose Open, and confirm once. A checksum is published for every release so you can verify the download.

  • Everyone on the other side of the call shares one speaker label.

Your own voice is always attributed correctly because it is recorded on its own channel. The other participants are labelled as one remote speaker for now; you can rename that speaker per meeting.

Billing, keys and limits.

What happens when my 14-day trial ends?
Nothing is taken away from your data: recordings, transcripts, search and Prep Briefs stay unlimited and free. The Pro-only parts pause: AI notes drop to 3 a month, and Ask and follow-up emails switch off until you upgrade. Pro is $6 a month or $48 a year.
What counts as an "AI note"?
One generation of notes for one meeting: summary, action items, decisions and questions together count as one. Regenerating with a different template counts again. Transcription, search and Prep Briefs are never metered.
What happens after 30 days on the Free plan?
The audio files for a meeting are deleted after 30 days. The transcript, notes and search index stay until you delete them. Pro lets you keep audio for as long as you like.
How do licence keys work?
After checkout, Stripe emails you a key in the form RECORDIST-…. Paste it into Settings → License. The app verifies the signature offline; no account and no phone-home are required. Pro keys work on the devices you use personally.
What is "Get early access"?
Checkout opens plan by plan. Until a plan's checkout is live, its button asks for your email and the plan you want. We store exactly that, write to you once when checkout opens, and never use the address for anything else. Recording and transcription are free today without signing up for anything.
Can I switch between monthly and annual?
Yes. Use the link in your Stripe receipt to open the customer portal and change the interval, update your card or cancel. Changes take effect at the next renewal.
How do refunds work?
Email us within 14 days of purchase and we refund you in full, no questions asked. Team plans are refundable pro-rata for unused seats.
Is there a lifetime plan?
No. Recordist is sold as a subscription so that the company can keep maintaining it; the annual price ($48, or $4 a month) is the best value. Recording, transcription, search and Prep Briefs stay free, with no time limit and no purchase.
