Read the label
You’ll read the back of a bread bag in the shop,
but chances are you’ve never asked where your client calls go after you hang up.
Think about the last time a client really opened up to you on a call. Maybe it was the house they might have to sell, or a number they’d never said out loud before.
Then you hung up and went to make a coffee, and it probably never crossed your mind where that call ended up.
With Recordist, the record is made right there on your laptop while you talk, and we never receive your audio.
Nothing joins the call. By default it asks you before it records, and your client hears about it from you.
It’s worth knowing these answers before a client asks.
The label
Questions worth asking about your last client call.
If a client asked you any of these, could you answer in a sentence?
-
Where did your last client call go after you hung up?
With Recordist
It stays with you, in a folder you own. We never receive your audio, and we have no server that could hold it. The app keeps a list of what it sends out, and you can scroll through it yourself. There’s nothing on it of your audio coming to us.
If you choose a cloud AI provider for notes, the transcript goes straight from Recordist to that provider under your own account. That is your choice, off by default, and listed in the Privacy Ledger. On a Mac your organisation manages, it can choose to archive each meeting to its own storage. We never receive it.
What the app sends out recordist.app/trust#leaves -
Does your firm know who else sits in on your client calls?
With Recordist
Just the people you invited. Nothing joins the call or shows up in the participant list. By default Recordist asks you before it records, and your client hears about it from you.
Privacy you can check recordist.app/trust#checks -
Did everyone on that call know it was being recorded?
With Recordist
If you told them, yes, and Recordist gives you the words. By default a card comes up first and asks, “Record this meeting?” Click Copy notice and you get a short notice to read out or paste into the chat, and Recordist keeps a mark of when you said you gave it.
Recordist can’t know what the others heard or what they said back, so the mark only shows what you said you did.
How the card works recordist.app/features#confirm -
Could your client’s voice end up training someone’s AI?
With Recordist
Not through us. We never receive it, so there’s nothing for us to learn from. Recordist transcribes the call itself, and with the built-in engine, which is the default, it writes the notes as well.
If you decide to use a cloud provider for notes with your own key, that provider’s own terms cover what it receives.
What we do with data recordist.app/trust/data-processing -
Who can read your notes right now?
With Recordist
They’re in a folder you own, and we don’t have access to them or a copy. If you turn on full-disk encryption, they’re protected at rest along with everything else you keep.
Recordist doesn’t add any encryption of its own. FileVault on a Mac, BitLocker on Windows or LUKS on Linux does that job, and we’d recommend turning it on.
How it’s protected recordist.app/trust#security -
What are you paying for your notes, and is it only money?
With Recordist
It’s free to start, and you don’t need an account. Every call you record is transcribed and searchable, with no time limit. The app is the only thing we sell, and there are no investors and no data business behind it.
Every install comes with 7 days of Pro, and we don’t ask for a card. What Pro costs after that is on the pricing page.
Free and Pro, side by side recordist.app/pricing -
What did you and your client agree three weeks ago, word for word?
With Recordist
Search your calls for it and press the line, and you’ll hear it said, while the audio is kept. Promises keeps two lists for you, what you owe and what you’re owed, in the words people actually used on the call.
By default the audio is kept for 30 days, and you can change that. On Pro, Promises fills in from every call.
How Promises works recordist.app/features#promises
My client calls are on my laptop, and the app keeps a log of what it sends out, which I can show you.
