Accessibility statement

Last reviewed 18 October 2026.

Recordist should work for everyone who has calls to remember, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, captions or reduced motion. We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA for recordist.app and the desktop app. We have not had an independent audit, so we do not claim conformance; this page says what we have built, what we have not tested yet, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.

The website

  • Every page declares its language and starts with a "Skip to content" link.
  • Everything you can focus shows a visible focus ring. Wide tables scroll sideways and can be focused, so they also scroll with the arrow keys.
  • When your system asks for reduced motion, animations and transitions stop and content is simply there.
  • Nothing plays sound unless you press play. The films on the home page are silent, start from a still and have a pause control.
  • The Memory Test's call has captions, on by default, and a written transcript. The short moments on the home page carry their words as text.
  • The site's text colours measure at least 4.5:1 against the backgrounds they sit on, and the focus ring at least 3:1, in both the light and the dark theme, which follow your system.
  • There are no cookie banners or pop-ups to dismiss. Wren, the support assistant, opens only when you ask, and a ticket to a person is always one step away.

The desktop app

  • Recording can be started and stopped with a keyboard shortcut, from the menu bar or tray, or from the app window.
  • Settings offers a light theme, a dark theme or Match the system, and the app honours reduced motion.
  • Transcripts and notes can be exported as Markdown, text, SRT or VTT captions and JSON, to read in the tools you already use.

What we have not tested yet

  • We have not yet checked every screen of the website and the app end to end with a keyboard alone or with a screen reader (VoiceOver, Narrator or Orca), and Windows and Linux have had less testing than the Mac.
  • The record card, which appears when a call starts, is a small floating window. If you cannot reach it with your setup, start recordings from the shortcut or the app window instead, and tell us.
  • There is no accessibility conformance report (VPAT) yet.

Tell us about a barrier

If anything on the site or in the app is hard to use with the way you work, write to support@recordist.app or open a ticket on the support page. Say what you were trying to do, and, if you can, what you use (for example a screen reader and its version). A person replies within one business day. If you need any page of this site in another format, such as plain text, ask and we will send it.

The vendor pack for reviewers is on the Trust Center: the security brief, the pre-filled questionnaire and the data processing position.

Recordist

Recordist for Mac is downloading.

Thank you for trying Recordist. Three small steps and it is ready for your next call.

  1. 1Open the download and drag Recordist to Applications, then open it from there.
  2. 2Allow what it asks for. Recordist explains each permission first.
  3. 3Join your next call. Recordist asks: Record this meeting? Nothing is recorded until you say yes.

Every install includes 7 days of Pro, so your first calls are written up in full.
