Connecting Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Cursor

Recordist includes a small helper, @recordist/gateway, that lets AI assistants read your meetings. It runs on your own machine and talks only to the Recordist app there. Any assistant that supports the MCP standard can use it; the three most common are below.

Claude Desktop

Add this to claude_desktop_config.json (Settings → Developer → Edit Config):

Claude Code

Settings → MCP → Add server, with the command npx -y @recordist/gateway.

What the agent can do

List, open, search and read your meetings and open action items, on every plan. On Pro it can also regenerate notes, drop a marker, and start or stop a recording (starting one also needs Allow remote start in Settings → General, which is off by default). Ask “what did we decide about pricing last week?” and the assistant searches, reads the passage and answers with the timestamp.

Transcripts and notes are generated automatically and may be wrong; check the recording before acting on what an assistant tells you.

What it cannot do

Reach anything off your machine. The helper only ever talks to the Recordist app on your own computer. Where the assistant then sends what it read is up to the assistant you connected and its provider; the Privacy Ledger records only what Recordist itself sends.
