Why my calendar title wasn’t used

When a meeting is in your calendar, Recordist uses its title and attendees for the prompt, the meeting name and the Prep Brief. If the prompt said “Untitled meeting” instead, one of these is the cause.

Calendar access is off or not granted

Two things must both be on: Settings → Detection → Calendar, and macOS calendar permission for Recordist under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars. Recordist reads events; it never writes.

The event is in a calendar Recordist cannot see

Recordist reads the calendars that appear in the macOS Calendar app. A Google or Outlook calendar that is only open in a browser tab is invisible. Add the account to macOS Calendar (System Settings → Internet Accounts) and it will show up.

The call started outside the event window

Matching uses a window around the event: from 10 minutes before the start to the scheduled end. A call that starts 20 minutes early, or runs from a different event’s slot, will not match. You can rename the meeting afterwards; the transcript is unaffected.

The meeting was in a browser without the extension

Browser calls are detected through the microphone; Recordist cannot tell which Meet tab it is. Install and pair the Chrome extension and the title comes straight from the tab.

Fixing a title after the fact

Open the meeting, click the title, and type. Recordist also offers an automatic title from the transcript when there is no calendar match (Settings → AI notes → Auto title), which is why some meetings end up with a sensible name anyway.
